Curriculum

We raise puppies in a way that aligns with their developmental benchmarks with the Emowered Breeder Advanced Service Dog Program. We ensure they are empowered and not enabled, and leave KSDD knowing that the world is safe, people are kind and other dogs are friendly.

From birth our puppies begin with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), this is a daily exercise developed by Dr. Camren Battaglia to make sure that all puppies are exposed to various types of human touching, handling and sensation.

We do Early Sent Introduction (ESI) with our puppies from day 3 to 16, an exercise developed by Dr. Gayle Watkins.

At 3 weeks old our pups start whelping box curriculum with soft gentle toys.

At 4 weeks we begin daily curriculum in our classroom with exposure activities that are adjusted according to age.

We begin the vital role of socializing your new puppy, carefully following the developmental stages and introduce new curriculum accordingly. We also provide mental and physical challenges daily - items that move, items to chew on, climb on and carry, obstacle courses, scent work and confidence building activities. Play helps develop strength, agility, coordination and skills to function as an adult.

Puppies also begin using problem solving skills which is vital in producing intelligent dogs. Puppies that do not have these daily challenges become “poor learners” who are unable to handle frustration and are limited in their coping skills.

Puppy evaluations are done at 7 weeks of age to determine each puppies temperament traits. The evaluation videos and score cards are posted on each litters private puppy page for viewing prior to the families on the litter list reserving their puppy. Our goal here at KSC is to match the perfect puppy with each family. Our puppies are chosen by temperament traits and the personality types to suit your family's needs and lifestyle not by color. Puppy selections are done in person at 8 -9 weeks of age.

The Badass Breeder Oath

I, have committed a great deal of time learning everything about the Badass Breeder's Program because I wholeheartedly believe in the difference it can make for our puppies. I am required to abide by the BAB's Breeder Oath, which I take very seriously and will always strive to do:

LOVE - We truly love our dogs, our puppies, and our clients. We are committed to changing the stigma and changing breeding from bad to badass.

MISSION - We promise to stay true to the reason why we started breeding. Healing hearts and changing lives through the power of a dog is a gift and our avenue to truly help others.

LIFETIME RESPONSIBILITY - We are committed to taking 100% responsibility for every puppy for the entirety of its life and provide a 2-year genetic health warranty.

CLIENT COMMUNITY -  We are committed to educating clients.

PARENT STANDARDS - We promise to breed only health and temperament tested parents and to choose breeding pairs that accentuate and complement each other.

PARENT CARE - We promise to honour and respect our dams and sires and to keep them healthy and happy. We will always provide a safe and enriching environment, high-quality veterinary care, nutrition, living quarters, and lots of love.

PLANNED LITTERS - We promise to never contribute to overpopulation by being selective in our breeding pairs, and we will always strive to improve our lines.

PUPPY CURRICULUM - We promise to provide a structured curriculum to ensure our puppies learn that the world is safe, people are kind, and dogs are friendly.

PUPPY EVALUATIONS - We promise to evaluate puppies after 7 weeks of age and we provide information to clients to ensure the best match is made. We promise to only let clients choose a puppy after they have reviewed all veterinary and temperament evaluation records and videos so they choose a puppy that best meets both their and the puppy's needs. We will guide and assist to ensure our puppies' voices are heard.
